Unique green sails and over 100 years of history give this elegant sailing ship an unmistakable image. The hull of the bark “Alexander von Humboldt” was built in 1906 following the design of the sailing ship “Bismarck” and was first used as a floating light vessel named “Reserve Sonderburg”

As an introduction to the North Sea Week in 1988 the “Dream under 25 sails” began with the naming of the vessel after “Alexander von Humboldt” the renowned German explorer and natural scientist.

Since then she has been a regular guest at windjammer reviews and has sailed round the world several times. Length: 63 m; draught: 830 tonnes; sail area: 1010 mý, max. crew: 60; 615 hp 4-stroke diesel engine; home port: Bremerhaven.
